Executive Committee Nominees

Founded in 2010, the Trinidad and Tobago Green Building Council is a member-driven organization and the most significant advocate of sustainable design in Trinidad & Tobago. Our mission is to transform the way our country’s buildings and communities are designed, built, and operated, thereby enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life for all.

The Council’s Executive Board of Directors is charged with the responsibility for fostering Green Building practices, developing programs to educate professionals and the general public, cooperating with non-governmental agencies in the promotion of green building practices, advising governmental agencies, representing professionals involved in the Green Building industry, developing best practices and standards, contributing to the development of codes for Green Buildings, and any other activities which will fulfill the aims and objectives of the organization.

Each year, we are required to hold elections for the Council’s Executive, which shall consist of a President, Vice-President (Advocacy & Awareness), Vice-President (Marketing & Communication), Vice-President (Public Relations), Vice-President (Research & Development), Treasurer, and Secretary. This year, our Annual General Meeting and election will be held on June 30th, 2021 at 6:00pm via Zoom. Today, we present the profiles of the members desirous of serving on the next Executive.

COLIN COCKBURN, PRESIDENT
Colin Cockburn is the owner of Ecozia Ltd, a company that offers sustainable building solutions specializing in indoor air pollution. Previously he has worked as a business development consultant in the Energy Services and Manufacturing Sectors. He has a Masters Degree in Marketing from the Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and is passionate about preserving the earth’s natural resources and making the planet a more environmentally sustainable place to live. In his spare time he enjoys traveling and water sports. He has been a TTGBC Member for the past 8 years and a board member since 2017.

RICARDO NEWALLO, SECRETARY
Ricardo is a Registered Architect and Director of Sustainability at ACLA architecture in Trinidad and Tobago. Prior to embarking on a career in architecture, he developed a multi-faceted background in finance, computing and art, resulting in a diverse skills set and range of interests. This compliments his appreciation of the dialogue between natural and man-made environments, something Ricardo hopes to address throughout his career. Ricardo is currently serving as an Executive Member of the Trinidad and Tobago Institute of Architects, Vice-President of the Port of Spain Central Lions Club and has completed his LEED® Green Associate Training with the TTGBC.

KEFIM LEWIS, VP RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
Kefim is a detail-oriented, insightful, and dynamic Construction Manager with 12+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas, and Construction Sectors. Holder of a Bachelors of Science (BSc) and Master of Engineering (MEng) in Mechanical Utilities Engineering. A Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Logistics and Supply Chan Management, as well as a Registered Mechanical Engineer with the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago. He is also an associate member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, United Kingdom. Experience comprising renewable energy, facility maintenance, project management and procurement within high-growth organizations. Proven expertise in supporting the development of HVAC design, refinery equipment design and maintenance and renewable energy design, understanding the impact of equipment reliability, availability, and maintenance cost in support of operations excellence and capital efficiency.

STEIN CARRINGTON, TREASURER
Stein is the Principal Architect of Stein Carrington Architect Ltd (established 2019), a full service design consultancy based in Trinidad and Tobago. A Registered Architect with the Board of Architecture Trinidad and Tobago (BoATT) and member of the Trinidad and Tobago Institute of Architects (TTIA); he is a creative designer, with a pragmatic vision of design and its implementation. Stein is currently the Treasurer of the Executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Institute of Architects (TTIA) (2018-Present). Stein was a board member of the Trinidad Transport Board, a Presidential Advisory Board of the Ministry of Works and Transport. (2015-2020)

Stein holds a B.Sc Surveying and Land Information from the University of West Indies, St. Augustine and a B.A.Arch Studies and M.Arch from the University of Technology Jamaica. During his time at the University of Technology, Jamaica, Caribbean School of Architecture, Mr. Carrington has been awarded, Best Research Project at the Postgraduate Level, M.Arch 2, 2014/15. Best Academic Performance at the Post Graduate Level M.Arch 1 & 2, Undergraduate Level, B.A. Arch Studies 1 & 4, Honorary Student Award, Year 4. Dean’s List Year 1, 3 & 4, Caribbean School of Architecture Student of the Year (Year 4). Student Award Architectural Design Challenge for Affordable Housing 2012, National Housing Trust, Jamaica (NHT) – w/ Matthew McFarlane.

DAVID FOJO, VICE PRESIDENT ADVOCACY & AWARENESS
David Fojo has been a green architect for 44 years and has a master’s degree in Environmental Design (M.E.D.) from Yale University. For the last 22 years he has been the Managing Director and Lead Architect of Fojo Design & Develop Ltd., a Caribbean-wide firm, which uses Green Architecture to greatly increase the health, happiness, productivity and prosperity of the occupants of buildings, all stakeholders in the project, and the planet. He was a member of the Walt Disney World Green Team and the HOK Green Team in Orlando. He keeps abreast of the latest in Green and Sustainable Design having been to the last Green Build Conference in Atlanta, American Institute of Architects National Conferences, CES Expos, etc.. He also has expertise in Smart Building Technology and how it can make life greener and more comfortable.

ADELWYN HOLDER, VP MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
Adelwyn is Certified Management Consultant and Project Manager with over twenty-two (22) years of architectural and engineering design, construction, and project management experience gained through work on a number of construction, business, and community based projects throughout Trinidad & Tobago and the southern Caribbean. He is Founder and Managing Director of Ikigai Consulting, holds an BA (Hons) in Business Management from Anglia Ruskin University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management from the Henley Business School, and is LEED® Green Associate Certified. Adelwyn previously served as the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the Trinidad & Tobago Green Building Council from 2015 to 2017.
